Commissions

Every commissioned painting is conceived specifically for its setting, considering the proportions, scale, materials, light, and character of the interior. The goal is to create an original work that becomes an integral part of the space. The commission process consists of the following steps:

Step 1 — Initial Discussion

Every project begins with a conversation about your space, your vision, and the role the artwork will play within the interior.

Our discussion may include:

• The type of project
• The dimensions of the space
• Photographs or drawings
• Interior materials and colour palette
• The desired scale of the artwork
• Project timeline
• Budget expectations

This conversation helps me understand both the architecture of the space and the atmosphere the painting should create.

Step 2 — Project Proposal

After reviewing your project, I prepare a proposal tailored specifically to your space.

The proposal typically includes:

• Two original composition concepts, presented as digital visualizations
• Recommended painting dimensions
• Preliminary colour direction
• Estimated completion schedule
• Price quotation
• Section configurations
• Estimated transportation costs
• Installation recommendations

These digital visualizations establish the overall composition, proportions, and visual balance before painting begins. They are intended as design concepts rather than finished renderings of the completed artwork.

Step 3 — Composition Approval

After reviewing both proposals, you select the preferred composition.

Minor adjustments can be made before painting begins to ensure the artwork responds appropriately to the project.

Once the composition has been approved, the commission is confirmed, and production begins.

Step 4 — Payment Terms

The commission is divided into two payments:

• 40% upon acceptance of the commission to reserve production and begin the project.
• 60% upon completion, before shipment.

Step 5 — Making the Painting

Throughout the process, progress photographs are provided at key stages so you can follow the development of the artwork while allowing the creative process to evolve naturally.

Step 6 — Final Review

Before shipment, the completed painting is photographed in detail for final review.

At this stage you will receive:

• Overall views of the completed artwork
• Detail photographs of the surface
• Confirmation of dimensions
• Section layout and Installation configuration
• Shipping schedule

Step 7 — Delivery

Once the final payment has been received, the painting is carefully packaged for transportation.

Depending on the size of the artwork, the sections are shipped in one or more packaging cases designed for efficient transportation.

Step 8 — Installation

Single-piece paintings are ready for installation upon arrival.

For sectional paintings, each component is positioned and installed in its designated location according to the supplied installation guide. Once installed, the painting reads as a single continuous artwork.

Can I commission very large paintings?

Yes. Very large paintings can be engineered in sections to simplify transportation and installation.

Will the finished painting be identical to the approved digital concept?

The completed painting follows the approved composition closely. However, because it is created entirely using real solid colours, it will naturally differ from the digital visualization and the way colours appear in a digital screen.

Can the colours be adjusted to suit the project?

Yes. The colour direction is established during the proposal stage and can be refined before painting begins. The objective is to create a painting that responds naturally to the materials, light, and atmosphere of the interior.

How long does a commission take?

Completion time depends on the size and complexity of the project. An estimated schedule is included with every proposal. A typical commission takes between 3 and 6 weeks.

Do you work internationally?

Yes. Paintings are commissioned for projects throughout Canada, the United States, and internationally.

How are large paintings transported?

Large commissions can be engineered in sections that fit within practical shipping dimensions accepted by UPS and FedEx.
